They knew each other a lot longer than that as they were both "spawned" from the Toronto Folk and Rock and Roll scene in the 1960's. Amos first becoming prominent with Ian & Sylvia Tyson's first band project-The Great Speckled Bird, and Kelly Jay scoring an international hit with his band Crowbar. The song, "Oh What a Feeling"(penned by Kelly Jay) received two prestigious awards this year, being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and also being named Song of the Year by SOCAN. The booming six-nighter blues club scene in Western Canada of the 1980's brought them to Alberta.
